The Influence of Mother’s Attachment, on School Adjustment and Academic Performance in Katsina Zonal Education Quality Assurance Junior Secondary Schools, katsina State Nigeria

Abstract
This research was carried out to investigate the influence of mothers attachment on students adjustment and academic performance of Junior Secondary Schools in Katsina zonal education quality assurance, Katsina state Nigeria. Descriptive research survey design was adopted. The population of the study comprise thirty thousand seven hundred and eighty seven students (30,787). The sample of the study consisted of three hundred and seventy eight (378) from nine (9) secondary schools randomly selected for the study. The instruments used for the study were adapted mothers attachment questionnaire by Ross (2012), an adapted student’s adjustment questionnaire by Julius (2014), and adapted English performance test from BECE 2019/2020. Validity of instruments was ascertain through content validity. Test-retest of internal consistency method of reliability were adopted for the questionnaire. Reliability co-efficient of 0.67, 0.72, and 0.75 was obtained. Two research objectives, questions and hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significant. The data was analyse using regression statistics method. The findings of the study showed that there is significant influence of mother’s attachment on students’ adjustment and academic performance in junior secondary schools of Katsina zonal education quality assurance. It was therefore recommended that consideration should be given to mothers’ attachment when students are admitted into junior secondary schools to enable them adjust to the school systems for better performance.
